Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps

Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps (also called split systems) are comprised of two sections. The outdoor section, the air conditioner or heat pump is matched with the indoor section, an air handler or indoor coil. The indoor coil is typically located on top of the furnace.

10-Year on All Parts
When a product is truly built to exacting standards of quality and durability, the manufacturer's confidence is reflected in its warranty. Westinghouse heating and cooling products offer one of the best warranties in the business— 10 years on all parts when product is registered.

10-Year Quality Pledge
If the heat exchanger (the major component of your furnace) or the compressor (the most important part of your air conditioner) fails within the first 10 years (when registered), or five years (not registered) we'll replace the product with a like product under the Westinghouse Quality Pledge program.

Limited Lifetime Heat Exchanger Warranty
When you register you new Westinghouse Gas/Electric Package product or furnace, we will also extend the heat exchanger warranty from 20 years to the limited lifetime warranty.

10-Year on Indoor Air Quality Products & Zoning Products
When you install and register any of our Westinghouse Indoor Air Quality or Zoning with your new Westinghouse system, we will also extend the accessory warranties to the 10 Year Limited Parts Warranty.

Heat Pump vs. Air Conditioner

Choosing a heat pump as a comfort solution should be driven by the climate you live in, and relative to your comfort needs. A heat pump is designed to provide heat in the winter, and is best in environments that do not drop below freezing.
A “split” system is the most common heating and cooling central system used. Your split system air conditioner or heat pump is the outdoor component of a total system. And the indoor component is a matched indoor coil which sits on top of a furnace or air handler.
