Humidifiers

Basement humidifier, furnace mounted humidifier, flow through humidifierProtect your family and your home from the unhealthy and damaging effects of over-dry air:
  • Dry nose, cracked, itchy skin, and sore throats
  • Aggravated allergy and asthma symptoms
  • Painful static shocks
  • Chipping paint and plaster
  • Splitting or cracked wood floors
  • Furniture, trim and molding.
Humidifiers keep your home's humidity levels can significantly improve the healthfulness and comfort of your home.

When it comes to feeling comfortable in your home, the old saying "it's not the heat (or cold) - it's the humidity" rings true. Other than ambient temperature, nothing affects a body's perception of comfort more than the humidity level. And there's a fairly narrow range between what is considered "too much" and "too little" of it.

Too little humidity
  • You experience chronic physical symptoms such as sore throats, dry/itchy skin, nose bleeds or sinus irritation.
  • Your home's wood floors are shrinking and cracking. Joints in wood furniture are becoming loose or failing.
  • Wallpaper is peeling, while your paint or plaster is starting to crack.
  • Annoying and sometimes painful static shocks are common occurrences.
  • Your thermostat is cranked up, as is your energy bill, but you still feel cold.
  • Your piano and other musical instruments are falling out of tune.

Too much humidity
  • Your skin often feels clammy, sweaty or sticky.
  • Musty-smelling odors are invading your living space.
  • Wood floors, trim or wood furniture is warping or rotting, paint is peeling.
  • Condensation, frost or ice have formed on the inside surface of your windows. Water pipes are "sweating".
  • Dampspots, or worse, mold and mildew, have formed on ceilings or walls.
  • Your allergies or asthma have gotten worse due to the growth of mold, mildew and dust mites.
  • Your house is a breeding ground for termites, cockroaches and other pests.
What You can do to treat the symptoms?
  • Use ventilation fans in kitchens and bathrooms when in use. Ensure that your fans are venting directly outside.
  • Cover dirt floor crawlspaces under your house with plastic to act as a vapor barrier.
  • Check to make sure your dryer is vented to the outside. Don't dry wet clothes on drying racks in the house. Air-dry them outdoors if possible.
  • Ensure air conditioning drip pans are clean and drain lines unobstructed.
  • Fix any water leaks in pipes, toilets, showers, etc.

Ventilators

Ventilators make your home "a healthy breath of fresh air" every day of the year.

According to the EPA, concentrations of toxic pollutants can be up to one hundred times greater inside a home than outside, even in our smoggiest cities. Poor ventilation in the home can lead to stuffy air and a build-up of unpleasant odors, irritating pollutants and potentially harmful gasses such as radon or carbon monoxide. As homes are built tighter with better windows, more insulation and higher-efficiency heating and cooling systems, the need for adequate ventilation becomes even more important.

Problems
  • Odors - emitted from litter boxes, trash cans, dirty hampers, cooking, smoking, paints and solvents.
  • Gases and vapors - emitted from new carpeting, building materials, cleaning supplies, candles, pesticides, personal care products, glues and adhesives.
  • Stale and stuffy air - a result of today's energy efficient "tight" building techniques.
What you can do to treat the symptoms?
  • Store volatile chemicals and cleaning products outside the home.
  • Keep litter boxes away from heating and cooling system vents.
  • Change your furnace filter according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Have your fireplace and/or wood stove periodically cleaned and inspected.
  • Clean dryer vents on a regular basis.
  • Open windows and doors, as weather permits, to replace indoor air with fresher, outdoor air.
  • Before new carpeting is installed, ask your retailer to unroll and air out the carpet in a well-ventilated area. Open windows while carpet is being installed.
  • Utilize exhaust fans in bathrooms and ventilation hoods above stove tops.
  • Ventilate crawl spaces, attics, hobby and work spaces.

How does a ventilator work?

In the summer, warm fresh air passes near outgoing conditioned air, cooling it down. At no time do the stale and fresh air streams mix, instead they pass each other separated by thin walls that allow only the air’s energy to transfer, cutting your heating and cooling bills.

Filters - Air Cleaners

Air pollution is a serious problem especially inside your home! The EPA has named indoor air pollution as one of the top 5 environmental risks to public health. The EPA also reports that indoor air can be up to one hundred times more polluted than the air outside. One hundred times! And while you are offered many options — standard 1" furnace filters, portable purifiers and ionizers — there’s only one truly effective solution: a Whole-House Air Cleaner.

What is an air cleaner?

Whole-home air cleaners make your air as clean as possible by removing particulates from your air, allowing you to breathe healthier air — important to those with allergies and asthma and for those who want the cleanest air possible for themselves and their family.  An air cleaner installed by your heating and cooling contractor, can help rid your home of dust, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, pollen, bacteria and viruses, smoke and more!

How does an air cleaner work?

Whole-home air cleaners are installed as part of your home’s central heating and cooling system. That means each and every time your system runs, the air in your home is filtered through our state-of-the-art filter media removing potentially harmful contaminants from every room of your home.  The resulting clean air is then distributed via your heating and cooling system’s ductwork to your entire home.
Why do you need whole-house air cleaning? Consider this:
  • Each person inhales over 3,500 gallons of air each day. Children inhale more particles for their size then adolescents or adults.
  • Polluted air causes 94% of all respiratory problems.
  • More than 31 million Americans have been diagnosed with asthma, about 1/3 are children under 18.
  • About 40,000 dust mites, a common household allergen, can live in one ounce of dust.
  • An estimated 10-15% of the entire population may be allergic to cat or dog dander.
  • A person sheds up to 700,000 skin flakes per day.
Benefits
  • Health
The air in your home is littered with virus-sized particles and bacteria, allergens, dust and other airborne contaminants. A whole-house air cleaner can help provide relief from these irritants — up to 40 times more efficiently than standard furnace filters.
  • Comfort
Ever feel as if all you do is clean your home? Installing a whole-home air cleaning system means you'll need to dust less, keeping your home and its contents cleaner and more comfortable.
  • Protection
Did you know that the build-up of dust and dirt can be damaging to your heating and cooling equipment contributing to increased and expensive maintenance or premature failure? A typical 1" furnace filter just can't provide enough protection. A whole-house air cleaner helps ensure that your heating and cooling system lasts as long as possible.
  • Energy Savings
Build-up of dust, dirt, pet dander, hair and other substances on your heating and cooling equipment can reduce its efficiency by as much as 25%. A whole-house air cleaner can filter out these particles and help maintain the efficiency of your central heating and cooling system by enabling it to satisfy your needs quicker, using less energy.

UV Lights

The most effective way to enhance the quality of air in your home is the Germicidal UV Lamps Keep Coils Free of Mold, Bacteria
UV Lamps

08Germicidal UV lamps keep coils free of mold and bacteria.
UV Lamps from Carrier zap the mold and bacteria that can sometimes grow in the moist environment of your air conditioning or indoor coils. This way, unhealthy pollutants are killed and won't circulate through your family's home.
This greater activity and concentration of these airborne contaminants, equates to more allergic reactions, and sickness within families, for longer periods of time.
